Amazon India Pledges $233 Million for Logistics Overhaul and Quick Commerce Expansion

Overview

  • Amazon will deploy the $233 million to open new sites and upgrade existing fulfilment, sortation and delivery centres across India to boost processing capacity and speed.
  • It is rolling out safety and efficiency technologies including route complexity analysers, real-time speed alerts, a helmet adherence application and upgraded driver apps.
  • Welfare programmes such as Ashray rest points, Samridhi financial education, Pratidhi scholarships and Sushruta healthcare services will be expanded alongside free health check-ups for 80,000 delivery partners by year-end.
  • This funding builds on Amazon’s earlier pledge to invest $26 billion in India through 2030 as it seeks to serve all serviceable PIN codes across the country.
  • Amazon has begun pilots for its Amazon Now quick commerce service in Bengaluru to compete with established players like Blinkit, Instamart, Zepto and Flipkart Minutes.
