Amazon Games Cuts Over 180 Jobs, Shuts Down Initiatives

Second Round of Layoffs This Year Amid Refocus on Prime Gaming

Amazon is cutting over 180 jobs in its games division, including shutting down its Crown channel that streams on Twitch and closing its Game Growth initiative.
This is the second round of layoffs in Amazon's gaming division this year, following a reduction of more than 100 positions in April.
Amazon Games VP Christoph Hartmann stated the company is 'refocusing' efforts on Prime Gaming, which offers free games to Amazon Prime subscribers.
Despite the layoffs, Hartmann expressed confidence in the future of Amazon Games, highlighting ongoing projects including the next Tomb Raider game and a new Lord of the Rings MMO.
Amazon has faced broader job cuts this year, with an unspecified number of layoffs in its music division last week.
