Amazon Expands Alexa for Shopping With 100+ New Voice Actions

The company says the features let customers complete lists, subscriptions, payments and account tasks by voice to make routine shopping more automated, personalized, and faster.

Overview

  • Alexa for Shopping gained more than 100 new voice actions that let users create and edit lists and registries, manage Subscribe & Save deliveries, update delivery instructions, check refunds and gift card balances, and resolve billing questions.
  • Amazon says the capabilities are available now to U.S. customers through the Alexa icon in the Amazon Shopping app and on desktop.
  • The company reported that over 400 million customers used Alexa for Shopping in the past 12 months and that usage of its agentic features has grown roughly eightfold since the start of the year.
  • The new actions build on existing tools such as auto-buy, up-to-year price history checks, visual search with Amazon Lens, and 'Update Me When' alerts so Alexa can research products, track deals, and act when user conditions are met.
  • Amazon frames the release as part of broader AI investment to speed routine shopping and make recommendations more personal, and the announcement and usage figures come from the company's About Amazon blog rather than independent verification.
