Overview

  • The KF-01 mission lifted off at 2:18 a.m. ET from Cape Canaveral, carrying 24 production Kuiper satellites aboard a Falcon 9 rocket.
  • Successful deployment confirmed, bringing Amazon’s on-orbit Kuiper total to 78 low Earth orbit broadband craft.
  • Kuiper has secured up to 83 launch slots across SpaceX, United Launch Alliance, Arianespace and Blue Origin to build out its 3,236-satellite network by 2029.
  • The Federal Communications Commission license requires Amazon to deploy half of its constellation—about 1,600 satellites—by July 30, 2026.
  • Backed by more than $10 billion in funding, Project Kuiper aims to challenge SpaceX’s Starlink, which already operates roughly 8,000 satellites and serves about 5 million users.
