Amazon Delists New World: Aeternum, Sets January 2027 Shutdown

Existing owners can keep playing through a final year, with in-game purchases ending July 20, 2026 and no refunds for the currency already bought.

Overview

  • New World: Aeternum was removed from digital storefronts on January 15, 2026 and is no longer available to purchase.
  • Servers will be taken offline across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on January 31, 2027, with the Nighthaven season extended until closure.
  • Amazon says there will be no new content or further server merges during the wind-down, though it will monitor bugs and performance and continue world bosses and bonus weeks.
  • The shutdown follows prior cuts and restructuring at Amazon Games as the MMO’s player base declined from a 2021 peak of roughly 900,000 concurrent Steam users.
  • Facepunch COO Alistair McFarlane publicly offered $25 million to buy the game to preserve it, though no transaction has been announced.
