Amazon Delists New World: Aeternum, Sets Final Shutdown for January 2027

The company is moving the MMO into a controlled wind-down following 2025’s end of new content.

Overview

  • The game was removed from Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox storefronts on January 15, 2026, and only existing owners can continue playing.
  • Servers will be taken offline on January 31, 2027, with the Nighthaven season extended until the shutdown.
  • Sales of in-game currency, including Marks of Fortune, end on July 20, 2026, and Amazon says refunds will not be offered.
  • No new content or server merges are planned during the sunset period, though developers will monitor bugs and performance.
  • Launched on PC in 2021 and later on consoles in 2024, the MMO peaked at roughly 913,000 concurrent players as Amazon’s games group contended with layoffs and canceled projects.
