Amazon Adds Uber Eats to Prime Perks

The deal replaces Grubhub as Prime’s restaurant partner, giving members a built-in no-fee delivery option on qualifying orders to boost everyday value.

Overview

  • Amazon announced on Thursday that U.S. Prime members can order Uber Eats directly on Amazon.com or the Amazon Shopping app without creating a separate Uber account.
  • Prime orders of $25 or more placed through Amazon carry a $0 delivery fee, and a launch promotion gives $20 off each of the first two qualifying orders for 14 days.
  • The benefit runs through Amazon’s storefront only and does not remove service fees or required driver tips, and Amazon has not given a long-term expiry date for the delivery-fee waiver.
  • The new arrangement ends Amazon’s commercial perk with Grubhub and taps Uber Eats’ network of hundreds of thousands of restaurants across nearly 10,000 U.S. cities and towns.
  • The partnership deepens ties between the companies and strengthens Prime’s consumer value proposition while increasing competitive pressure in food and grocery delivery markets.
