Overview

  • Over 1.11 lakh devotees have visited the 3,888-metre Amarnath cave shrine in the first six days since the July 3 launch of the 38-day pilgrimage.
  • Authorities have deployed a record 581 CAPF companies alongside army and state police units with no-fly zones and anti-drone defences on both routes following the April 22 terror attack.
  • Mobile on-spot registration counters have been increased from 12 to 15 and the daily pilgrim quota raised to 4,100 to manage the unprecedented influx of yatris.
  • Mandatory ECG and blood sugar tests at Jammu hospitals are filtering out at-risk pilgrims before departure to high-altitude base camps.
  • More than half of the pilgrims are choosing independent travel to the Baltal and Pahalgam base camps instead of using the escorted convoys.
