• A screenshoted Instagram exchange shows Seyfried wrote “He was hateful” under a @So.Informed video compiling Charlie Kirk’s controversial past remarks on immigration, transgender rights, and other topics.
• Seyfried also shared a post reading “You can’t invite violence to the dinner table and be shocked when it starts eating,” which drew criticism for insensitivity following Kirk’s death.
• In a follow-up statement, she wrote that she can be angry about what she called misogyny and racist rhetoric and still view Kirk’s murder as disturbing and deplorable in every way.
• She added that she did not want to add fuel to a fire and sought clarity, calling for spirited discourse and noting the country is grieving too many violent deaths and shootings.
• Kirk was fatally shot on September 10 at Utah Valley University; police arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson two days later on aggravated murder and related charges, and authorities say a clear motive has not been established.
