Alyssa Healy to Retire After Australia’s India Series, Skipping T20s and World Cup

Citing mental fatigue plus injuries, she leaves T20 duty now to clear the path for Australia's World Cup leadership transition.

Overview

  • Healy announced on the WillowTalk podcast that she will finish her international career after the home multi-format series against India in February–March 2026.
  • She will miss the three T20Is and the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup, but will captain the ODIs and conclude with a day-night Test at the WACA from March 6–9.
  • Cricket Australia chief executive Todd Greenberg hailed her 15-year contribution as one of the game’s greats as the team moves to confirm new T20 leadership.
  • Her career spans nearly 300 internationals with more than 7,000 runs and about 275 dismissals, eight World Cup titles, the highest ODI World Cup final score of 170, and the most T20I dismissals.
  • The India tour schedule features T20Is from Feb. 15–21, three ODIs from Feb. 24–March 1 and the Perth Test on March 6–9, with Healy potentially reaching 300 internationals if she appears in five matches.
