Alysa Liu Drops Short Program Using d4vd/Laufey Track After Police Probe Ties Artist to Case

Her near-term schedule shifts to familiar routines during a rebuild of her short program.

Overview

  • The 2025 world champion said she is scrapping the routine set to “This Is How It Feels” by d4vd and Laufey.
  • Her decision follows the discovery of Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s body on Sept. 8 in an impounded Tesla registered to d4vd, according to police.
  • The LAPD has not named the 20-year-old artist a suspect, though detectives executed a search warrant at a property tied to him and his representative says he is cooperating.
  • Liu will create a new short program with coaches Phillip DiGuglielmo and Massimo Scali and will use older programs at upcoming events, including Cup of China on Oct. 24 and Skate America on Nov. 14.
  • She debuted the now-discarded routine at the Lombardia Trophy, winning the short program before placing fourth overall as she prepares for the 2026 Olympic season.
