Alysa Liu Drops Short Program Using D4vd Track as LAPD Investigation Continues

Police continue a death investigation with no suspect named or cause of death released.

Overview

  • Liu announced on Sept. 24 that she will replace the routine’s music, saying the shift reflects her values and that she will not rush the creative process.
  • She plans to build a new short program with coaches Phillip DiGuglielmo and Massimo Scali and will recycle earlier programs for upcoming Grand Prix assignments, including Cup of China on Oct. 24 and Skate America on Nov. 14.
  • The discarded program, set to D4vd and Laufey’s “This Is How It Feels,” debuted at the Lombardia Trophy this month, where Liu won the short program.
  • LAPD opened a death investigation after decomposed remains of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez were found Sept. 8 in an impounded Tesla registered to D4vd; investigators searched a property tied to him, recovered evidence for analysis, and report he is cooperating.
  • D4vd has canceled tour dates and a planned release, while collaborators moved to distance their work, including efforts to remove joint tracks and a delayed deluxe album rollout.
