Overview
- The museum was formally named on January 31 at the launch of Arduna, which opened February 1 and runs through April 15, 2026.
- Arduna is co-curated with the Centre Pompidou, and the partnership extends to publications as well as curatorial and academic research.
- Director Candida Pestana frames the museum’s program around three pillars: heritage; the environment and the landscape; and community.
- The collection will prioritize regional artists at roughly 60–70%, with about 30% international, using an artist-centered approach that includes archives and research access.
- Architect Lina Ghotmeh will design a building woven into the AlUla Oasis under Vision 2030, with no opening date yet, as the museum develops alongside Wadi AlFann, now slated to begin unveiling from 2028 after earlier delays.
