Overview
- Alpine, which confirmed on Saturday that it will end its factory Hypercar programme at the close of 2026, will not return as a works entrant in the WEC.
- Signatech team principal Philippe Sinault is actively seeking a partner to run the two A424 cars in 2027 and says the team is prepared to preserve staff and equipment if a deal is found.
- Months of takeover talks with the Geely group collapsed in the final stages, leaving negotiations open but time-constrained ahead of the WEC entry deadline on 23 November 2026.
- Any continuation of the A424 effort would require technical and engine support from Alpine’s Viry-Chatillon workshop, a requirement complicated by Alpine’s planned sale of Alpine Racing SAS to the Dumarey Group.
- Drivers and factory personnel face immediate uncertainty as contracted seats for 2027 are not secured and privateer survival is seen as unlikely given rising costs and the current competitiveness of the Hypercar field.
