Overview
- Alpine confirmed reserve driver Paul Aron will take FP1 in Mexico City in Pierre Gasly’s A525, completing the team’s final mandated rookie session of 2025.
- Aron joins a rookie-heavy FP1 that also features Pato O’Ward (McLaren), Arvid Lindblad (Red Bull), Antonio Fuoco (Ferrari), Frederik Vesti (Mercedes), Jak Crawford (Aston Martin), Ryo Hirakawa (Haas) and Luke Browning (Williams).
- The session forms part of Alpine’s assessment for 2026, with Franco Colapinto contracted for that year without a defined role and Jack Doohan and Aron among the contenders.
- Aron previously ran FP1 with Sauber at Silverstone and the Hungaroring and with Alpine at Monza, supported by private testing in Alpine’s 2023 car and race experience in Formula E’s Berlin E-Prix.
- Aron said Mexico’s high altitude will change car handling and setup compared with most circuits and described the chance as an opportunity to help prepare a competitive weekend.
