Alpine Names Mike Elliott Chief Technical Officer

His return to Enstone aims to tighten technical leadership and speed the team's effort to close the gap to the front of the grid.

Overview

  • Alpine announced the appointment on Thursday, naming Elliott to lead and oversee all technical and engineering functions at its Enstone factory.
  • Elliott returns to Enstone after serving there from 2008–2012 and brings more than two decades of F1 experience including senior roles at Mercedes.
  • Alpine credited Elliott with contributing to eight Constructors' and eight Drivers' championships during his career and said his hire boosts the team's technical capability.
  • Reporting says executive technical director David Sanchez will report into Elliott, creating a single layer of technical oversight at Enstone.
  • The move follows Alpine's recovery from a poor 2025 season to improved form in 2026 and comes with expectations Elliott will address past Mercedes design challenges such as the 2022 'zero-pod' concept that caused porpoising and loss of performance.
