Alpine Continues 2026 Tyre Development in Hungary After Colapinto Crash

Alpine remained at Hungaroring during the F1 break to advance Pirelli’s 2026 tyre programme after Colapinto’s Turn 11 incident.

Overview

  • On the morning of August 6, Franco Colapinto lost control at Turn 11 during Pirelli’s second day of 2026 tyre tests at Hungaroring.
  • Alpine’s medical team confirmed he emerged uninjured and he resumed afternoon runs in the A523 chassis alongside Pierre Gasly.
  • Alpine is one of the few teams running tyre tests through the Formula 1 summer recess to accelerate data collection for next season’s compounds.
  • The two-day TPC programme at Hungaroring feeds Pirelli’s final tyre structure approval process, with homologation deadlines in September and December.
  • Colapinto is scheduled to make his next on-track appearance at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort from August 29 to 31.
