• Pedro Almodóvar posted a video on his production company’s Instagram calling the Gaza campaign a “genocide” and urging Spain to end diplomatic, commercial and all other relations with Israel.
• He appealed directly to Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to persuade European allies to adopt the same rupture.
• The action forms part of the Artistas con Palestina/#AccionesYa campaign, which is collecting citizen video questions with the stated goal of presenting them to Spain’s Congress.
• Actors and musicians including Luis Tosar, Adriana Ugarte, Juan Diego Botto, Miguel Ríos, Marta Nieto, Carlos Bardem, Tristán Ulloa and others have joined the drive.
• Spain recognized Palestine in May 2024 and Sánchez used the term “genocide” in June, yet the government has not severed ties with Israel.
