Overview
- AllUnity unveiled SEKAU, a Swedish krona-backed stablecoin, and an AI-focused settlement product called Agentic Payments, with both products subject to final regulatory and operational sign-off ahead of a planned June rollout.
- The company says SEKAU will be issued under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets rules and held 1:1 with Swedish krona reserves to support 24/7 settlement, cross-border payments, and corporate treasury use.
- Agentic Payments is built to accept transactions initiated by autonomous software agents and to settle proceeds into local bank accounts using Coinbase’s x402 payment standard, although fees and partner integrations have not been disclosed.
- AllUnity is a Frankfurt joint venture backed by DWS, Flow Traders and Galaxy Digital and already issues euro- and Swiss franc-backed tokens under a BaFin electronic money licence that it says enables EU-wide distribution.
- The move comes as dollar-backed stablecoins still account for roughly 99% of supply, and competing MiCA euro stablecoin projects from European banks mean success will depend on proving regional liquidity, regulatory trust and clear enterprise use cases.
