Nampally Court Adjourns Pushpa 2 Stampede Hearing After Allu Arjun Seeks Virtual Attendance

The postponement pauses efforts to have all 23 accused appear together before the magistrate for committal steps to the sessions court.

Overview

  • On Monday, June 22, the Nampally Criminal Court postponed the Sandhya Theatre stampede hearing to July 6 because one or two accused failed to appear in person.
  • Allu Arjun, named as Accused No.11 in the police chargesheet, sought permission to join the hearing by video conference and reports say he either appeared virtually or his lawyers filed an absent petition.
  • Police filed a detailed chargesheet that lists 23 people in the case, with Sandhya Theatre management named as Accused Nos.1–10 and other members of the actor’s team among those charged.
  • The case stems from the December 4, 2024 stampede at a Pushpa 2 premiere that killed a woman, Revathi, and left her son Sri Teja with severe brain and respiratory injuries who remains in long-term rehabilitation.
  • Allu Arjun and his family have provided financial and medical support to the victim’s family, and the July 6 hearing is expected to decide next steps for committal and formal trial proceedings.
