Elias Diaz, 46, has been identified as the alleged 'Fairmount Park rapist', accused of assaulting four women, one fatally, between 2003 and 2007.
Diaz was arrested recently for an unrelated crime, allegedly attacking park-goers with a machete in Pennypack Park.
Philadelphia Police used forensic genealogy, working with Parabon Nanolabs, to identify Diaz as a suspect in the Fairmount Park assaults.
Diaz was living in a makeshift camp in the woods behind Lincoln High School in Mayfair at the time of his arrest.
Investigations into the other Fairmount Park assault cases are ongoing.
