All India Prison Duty Meet Opens in Hyderabad With First Tech Expo and Record Turnout

  • Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma declared the three-day meet open by lighting the ceremonial torch at the RBVRR Telangana Police Academy on September 9.
  • More than 1,300 personnel from 21 states and three Union Territories are taking part in 36 professional, sporting and fine arts events.
  • The meet features its first technology expo showcasing AI-driven surveillance, drones, scanners, contraband detection tools, robotics and information management software.
  • BPR&D officials said a National Prison Training Policy is being prepared, a technology adoption manual exists, and work is underway on high-security facilities for sensitive inmates.
  • Telangana highlighted recent reforms including the premature release of 231 prisoners for good conduct with rehabilitation support, new sanctioned posts and a modern district jail in Siddipet.
