Alice Weidel Confirmed as AfD Candidate for Bodenseekreis in 2025 Election

The AfD leader, who lost in the district in 2021, received unanimous support from local party members for her candidacy.

Alice Weidel, co-chair of the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party, will run as a direct candidate in the Bodenseekreis district for the 2025 Bundestag election.
Weidel was unanimously selected by the district's AfD members, with 100% of the votes cast in her favor, though one member abstained.
In the 2021 Bundestag election, Weidel ran in the same district but finished behind candidates from the CDU, SPD, Greens, and FDP, securing only 9.2% of the vote.
Weidel has been co-leading the AfD alongside Tino Chrupalla since June 2022 and is set to be officially nominated as the party's chancellor candidate at an event in Riesa this weekend.
While current polls place the AfD at approximately 19% nationwide, major parties have ruled out forming a coalition with them, limiting the party's chances of entering government.
