Overview

  • Mackey withdrew her not guilty plea to murder and admitted manslaughter at Winchester Crown Court on July 28, 2025.
  • Two independent psychiatric assessments concluded she was in a state of diminished responsibility when her daughter Annabel disappeared from their Kingsley home.
  • Detectives from the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary Major Crime Team led the inquiry into Annabel’s movements before she was found unresponsive in the shallow, MoD-owned Kingsley Pond.
  • Annabel went missing on September 10, 2023, was discovered in the pond a short time later and died in hospital the following day.
  • In a statement released by police, Annabel’s father described her as a “beautiful, positive and very happy little girl” who brought joy to everyone around her.
