- In the closing minutes Cienciano coach Horacio Melgarejo was shown a red card, walked past the Comando Sur and made a 'U' hand gesture that many interpreted as a provocation toward Universitario fans.
- Club officials including Franco Navarro moved to confront Melgarejo and police escorted the coach away to prevent an on-field altercation.
- Melgarejo apologized to Alianza fans on L1Radio and said the Cienciano board may evaluate his conduct, which could lead to internal or league discipline and sustained scrutiny of sideline behavior.
