His fiancée confirmed he died of natural causes at a West Palm Beach VA hospital after decades as a supporting actor alongside Burt Reynolds.

  • Stephanie Bliss, his fiancée, said he died July 22 of natural causes at the Thomas H. Corey VA Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida.
  • Wise made his screen debut in 1972 and first teamed with Reynolds as a trooper in 1974’s The Longest Yard.
  • He appeared in Smokey and the Bandit, The Cannonball Run and multiple other Reynolds films, and he played marina owner Oliver Wardell on ABC’s B.L. Stryker (1989–90).
  • In later years, he worked as a real estate agent in Jupiter, Florida, where Reynolds previously resided.
  • Born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in 1942, he was class president at Penn State before serving in the U.S. Navy and moving to Hollywood.
