Alexandra Eala Makes History with Miami Open Semifinal Run

  • Eala’s victory ended Swiatek’s 38-match winning streak against players ranked outside the top 50.
  • During her historic run, Eala also defeated Grand Slam champions Jelena Ostapenko and Madison Keys.
  • She is the first Filipino player to reach the semifinals of a WTA 1000 tournament and will break into the top 100 WTA rankings for the first time.
  • Eala, who has trained at the Rafael Nadal Academy since age 13, will face world No. 4 Jessica Pegula in the semifinals on March 28.
