Alex Edler to Retire as a Vancouver Canuck with One-Day Contract

The Canucks will celebrate Edler's career during their October 11 game against the Flyers.

Edler, originally from Sweden, was drafted by the Canucks in the third round of the 2004 NHL draft.
He played 925 games for Vancouver from 2006-07 to 2020-21, ranking fourth in franchise history and first among defencemen.
Edler leads all Canucks defencemen with 99 goals, 310 assists, and 177 power-play points.
He was a key player in the Canucks' 2011 Stanley Cup final run, contributing 11 points in 25 playoff games.
After two seasons with Los Angeles, Edler did not play in the NHL last season and will officially retire as a Canuck.
