- On Friday, Aug. 28, 2026 the Equipo Argentino de Antropología Forense (EAAF) announced the identification of Alejandro Ernesto Jesús Jerez Boderau from remains recovered at the former clandestine detention center La Perla.
- The EAAF’s Forensic Genetics Laboratory matched bone remains to reference samples from relatives and to profiles in the National Genetic Data Bank (BNDG) to establish the identity.
- With this confirmation the number of identified disappeared from La Perla rises to 30 while five recovered sets of remains remain without genetic confirmation.
- Excavations continue in the Loma del Torito sector of the Reserva Natural Militar La Calera under the federal case before Juzgado Federal N°3, and teams say disturbed, dispersed bones complicate recovery and analysis.
- The work involves universities, forensic services, provincial and municipal authorities, and family cooperation, and officials are urging relatives of people disappeared between 1974 and 1983 to provide voluntary reference samples to aid further identifications.
