Aleix Espargaro Sets Day 3 Benchmark as Sepang Shakedown Concludes

The shakedown wraps with times that set the stage for the official Sepang test on February 3–5.

  • Aleix Espargaro led the final day with a 1:57.173, edging Pol Espargaro in 1:57.299 as Fabio Quartararo took third in 1:57.690 and Alex Rins placed fifth in 1:57.892.
  • In cooler early running on Saturday, Pol Espargaro briefly lowered the week’s reference to a 1:57.3 before the late improvements.
  • Jack Miller topped Day 2 on Yamaha’s new V4 with a 1:57.908, the project’s first time leading a MotoGP timesheet at a shakedown and quicker than his 2025 inline M1 qualifying lap at Sepang.
  • Rookie Diogo Moreira cut 1.6 seconds to clock a 1:58.338 for eighth on Day 3, as fellow rookie Toprak Razgatlioglu improved to a 1:58.465.
  • KTM test rider Mika Kallio circulated on what appears to be an early 850cc prototype focused on reliability work, producing lap times not comparable to the 1000cc bikes.
