• Aldi analysed thousands of public suggestions to finalise its updated list of 20 priority sites for new UK stores.
• Each prospective site must accommodate about 20,000 sq ft of retail space with roughly 100 parking spots and offer strong road visibility.
• Ten new Aldi supermarkets are due to open this summer in locations including Caterham, Sheffield and Fulham Broadway.
• Refurbishment work is underway at 30 existing branches to upgrade bakery counters, health and beauty sections and overall store layouts.
• Each new store is expected to create around 40 jobs, complementing a recent pay rise for store assistants and a further wage increase planned for September.
