Aldi to Open 16 UK Stores Before Christmas in Accelerated Five-Week Rollout

The move advances Aldi’s two-year £1.6bn expansion plan with a nationwide drive to hire over 4,500 staff.

Overview

  • Openings are scheduled between November 6 and December 12, with the first store due to launch within days of the announcement.
  • Confirmed locations include Liverpool (Litherland/Sefton), Kentish Town and Old Kent Road in London, Billericay, Cheadle, Market Rasen, Kirkintilloch, Arbroath, Hove, Pershore, Yate, Northallerton, Uxbridge, Daventry, Baillieston and Philadelphia in Tyne and Wear.
  • Aldi says each new site is expected to create around 40 jobs, alongside a separate recruitment push for more than 4,500 store colleagues ahead of the festive season.
  • The retailer highlights pay for Store Assistants starting from £13.02 an hour nationally and from £14.35 inside the M25 from September 2025.
  • This wave forms part of a £650m 2025 store and refurbishment programme, complemented by a wider commitment to invest £1.6bn over two years to open roughly 40 stores annually, contrasting with continued net closures across UK high streets reported by PwC.
