Aldi Named Cheapest UK Supermarket for 2024

Aldi was found to be the cheapest supermarket in the UK for all 12 months of 2024, according to research by consumer group Which?.
The study tracked prices of 56 everyday grocery items, including milk, bread, and butter, across eight major UK supermarkets.
Shoppers at Aldi saved an average of £393 over the year compared to Waitrose, the most expensive option for smaller shopping lists.
Lidl ranked second in affordability, with prices for the same basket only slightly higher than Aldi's, depending on loyalty discounts.
For larger shopping lists of 150 items, Asda was the cheapest for nine months, while Tesco offered competitive pricing through its Clubcard scheme.
