Overview
- From Monday 1 September, Aldi’s minimum hourly rate for store assistants will be £13.02 nationwide.
- The rate can rise to £13.95 with length of service, with London pay set at £14.35 and up to £14.66 for longer-serving staff.
- The uplift adds 2p to a £13 rate announced in July and marks the second pay increase for store colleagues this year.
- Aldi says it remains the UK’s highest-paying supermarket and is the only grocer offering paid breaks worth about £1,425 a year.
- The pay move follows Lidl’s plan to raise entry pay to £13 from September and comes alongside Aldi’s £650m drive to open more stores and hire staff.
