Overview
- In the Bronx’s District 13, unofficial Board of Elections results showed Shirley Aldebol at 51.5% to Kristy Marmorato’s 46.5% with about 87% of votes counted, leaving the race uncalled.
- Roughly 1,600 votes separated the candidates late Tuesday, with outstanding precinct, absentee and provisional ballots still to be tallied before certification.
- Republican Vickie Paladino won re-election in Queens’ District 19 with about 58% of the vote against Democrat Ben Chou.
- Democrat Phil Wong captured Queens’ open District 30 seat over Republican Alicia Vaichunas, and Democrat Kayla Santosuosso won Brooklyn’s District 47 over Republican George Sarantopoulos.
- More than two million New Yorkers voted, the highest turnout since 1969, and the final count will determine the Council’s partisan split, which could be 46 Democrats and 5 Republicans if Marmorato loses.
