Alcohol-Impaired Teen Kills Two in West Delhi Jhuggi Crash

Police investigations attribute the early-morning collision to the driver’s excessive speed alongside alcohol impairment.

Overview

  • The crash unfolded at around 3:30 am on May 29 when 19-year-old Harsh Sehrawat lost control of a grey Maruti Swift on Pankha Road in Janakpuri.
  • The vehicle first struck cyclist Anish Ansari before ploughing into a roadside jhuggi, killing the 45-year-old factory worker and 35-year-old chik maker Phool Singh.
  • Three others were injured, including Phool Singh’s wife, who is six months pregnant, and her five-year-old nephew Vishal, all of whom are receiving medical care.
  • Locals detained the driver at the scene and Delhi Police confirmed a medical exam found him intoxicated at the time of the crash.
  • He has been charged with culpable homicide and negligent driving as authorities continue examining licensing compliance and road-safety enforcement.
