Alckmin Inaugurates Cáceres Export-Processing Zone, Opening Mato Grosso’s First ZPE

Overview

• The acting president formally opened the Cáceres ZPE on October 24, clearing the way for operations to begin.
• The site spans roughly 240 hectares with a customs precinct, administrative area and warehouses after R$51.3 million in infrastructure work.
• The zone becomes Brazil’s fourth active ZPE, joining facilities in Uberaba, Pecém and Parnaíba.
• Created by decree in 1990, the project was stalled for more than 30 years until a legal and administrative cleanup concluded in 2023.
• At least one firm, TRC Agroflorestal, has started operating, and Alckmin said he will push to desilt the Cáceres–Corumbá stretch of the Paraguai–Paraná waterway to improve logistics.
