• Premier Danielle Smith issued writs for June 23 byelections in Edmonton-Strathcona, Edmonton-Ellerslie and Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills.
• Naheed Nenshi will lead the NDP in Edmonton-Strathcona against UCP candidate Darby Crouch for the seat vacated by Rachel Notley.
• Edmonton-Ellerslie nominations close June 5, with NDP nominee Gurtej Singh Brar contesting UCP’s Naresh Bhardwaj.
• In Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills, UCP nominee Tara Sawyer and Alberta Republican Party leader Cam Davies have declared their candidacies while the NDP selection is set by June 14.
• Results will be announced July 3 and could shift a legislature currently holding 46 UCP, 36 NDP and two independent MLAs.
