  • Transportation Minister Devin Dreeshen met about a dozen Denton neighbourhood residents at the planned bike-lane site on 92nd and 96th streets between 119th and 124th avenues.
  • Residents raised concerns about first-responder access, parking and accessibility and asked for more input before construction proceeds.
  • Dreeshen said provincial legislation could be changed to require greater consultation on bike-lane projects if necessary.
  • The minister also met Mayor Amarjeet Sohi, and both characterized their discussion as constructive.
  • Dreeshen said Edmonton will undertake further public consultation and traffic-impact assessments on the proposed routes.
