Albanese Heads to China for Talks on Trade, Security and Rights

He travels with top executives to explore green energy projects, scrutinize Chinese investments, highlight regional tensions, expand export markets

Overview

  • Albanese will meet President Xi Jinping on July 12 in Beijing following business events and a CEO roundtable in Shanghai and Chengdu.
  • He plans to press Beijing to lift remaining curbs from 2020 that cut Australian exports by more than A$20 billion annually.
  • Discussions will address China’s military build-up and reinforce Australia’s reliance on the AUKUS pact for regional deterrence.
