Alaska Man Charged for Threatening to Kidnap and Harm Sen. Lisa Murkowski

Arther Graham, 46, from Kenai, Alaska is facing up to five years in prison for using interstate communications to convey threats against Sen. Lisa Murkowski, motivated by his fear of imminent eviction.

  • Arther Graham, a 46-year-old resident of Kenai, Alaska, has been charged with making threats to kidnap and harm Senator Lisa Murkowski. He submitted a threat via a web form on the Senator's office website, in response to a pending eviction that he was facing.
  • In the threat, Graham allegedly stated his intentions to 'hunt' the senator and wear her skin 'like clothes'. Reports suggest that he identified himself within the threat.
  • The senator's staff flagged the message, which initiated an investigation by the Capitol Police. A subpoena for the email address used traced back to Graham.
  • Law enforcement, including the FBI and Capitol Police, took Graham into custody in October. He confessed to sending the email during an interview with the FBI at his home.
  • Graham has been charged with making interstate threats to kidnap and harm the senator. He is set to make his initial court appearance on November 3. If found guilty, he could face a sentence of up to five years in prison.
