Alaska and Hawaiian Gain FAA Single Operating Certificate as HA Callsign Ends

The FAA's single operating certificate consolidates operations under Alaska's AS callsign ahead of a single booking platform in spring 2026.

Overview

  • Alaska Air Group received the FAA’s single operating certificate on Oct. 29, placing Hawaiian under Alaska’s operating authority while both brands continue to be presented to customers.
  • All flights now use the AS callsign, with the HA callsign canceled Oct. 30 and the final HA-coded flight, HA866 from Pago Pago to Honolulu, arriving early Wednesday.
  • Hawaiian flights may display the HA designator during the transition, though many have new flight numbers to avoid duplication with Alaska’s schedule.
  • A single passenger service system is planned for April 2026, after which all flights will carry the AS code while Hawaiian-branded flights remain clearly identifiable in booking channels.
  • Honolulu-based leadership changes take effect, naming Diana Birkett Rakow as CEO of Hawaiian as Joe Sprague retires, with Jim Landers and Shelly Parker assuming key Hawai‘i operations roles.
