Alan Partridge Returns Oct. 3 as BBC Rolls Out Spoof Crowdfunder Trailer

Steve Coogan frames the character as a Trojan horse for tackling anxious, taboo subjects in a new run centered on mental health.

Overview

  • How Are You? It’s Alan (Partridge) debuts on BBC One at 9:30pm on October 3, with all six episodes available the same day as a boxset on BBC iPlayer.
  • The first trailer stages a mock Crowdfunder in which Partridge laments rising TV costs from “inflation and the unions” and offers increasingly absurd backer perks.
  • The spoof also riffs on BBC rules by joking about smuggling donor name-drops into scripts via a “freelance wordsmith” and clunky visual metaphors.
  • The series follows Partridge back in Norwich after a year in Saudi Arabia and uses his personal funk to probe Britain’s broader mental-health malaise.
  • This marks Coogan’s first televised Partridge series since 2021, following a long development process dating back to 2019 with multiple working titles.
