Alamo Drafthouse Announces Two New Bay Area Locations Opening

The Austin-based cinema chain will bring its unique movie-going experience to Mountain View and Santa Clara, expanding its local presence to three theaters.

  • Alamo Drafthouse will open new theaters at Mountain View's Village at San Antonio Center and Santa Clara's Westfield Valley Fair mall by summer 2025.
  • Both locations will feature 10 auditoriums with luxury recliner seating, 4K digital projection, and Dolby Atmos sound systems.
  • The expansion follows the closure of ShowPlace Icon theaters in the same locations earlier this year after their parent company ceased operations.
  • Known for its themed events, in-theater dining, and strict no talking/texting policy, Alamo Drafthouse currently operates 44 theaters nationwide.
  • To celebrate the expansion, the chain is offering five free yearlong subscriptions to its Alamo Season Pass, allowing winners to watch one free movie per day.
