Alabama infectious disease expert Jeanne Marrazzo tapped to replace Fauci as NIAID director

Dr. Jeanne Marrazzo has been selected to succeed Dr. Anthony Fauci as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
Marrazzo is an infectious disease physician and HIV/STDs researcher at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
She will begin her new role overseeing NIAID's $6.3 billion budget and research this fall.
