Alabama Hires Former Michigan Linebackers Coach George Helow Ahead of CFP Semifinal

Helow's Knowledge of Michigan's Defense Expected to Benefit Alabama in Upcoming Game

Alabama has hired George Helow, former Michigan linebackers coach, ahead of their College Football Playoff (CFP) semifinal against Michigan.
Helow served as Michigan's linebackers coach in 2021 and 2022, and his knowledge of Michigan's defense is expected to be utilized by Alabama.
Helow's exact role in Alabama's staff is not yet known, but he will not be one of the Tide's 10 on-field assistants.
Helow started his coaching career as an intern for Alabama coach Nick Saban in 2012 and has also made stops at Maryland and Colorado State.
Alabama, the No. 4 seed in the CFP, will face No. 1 seed Michigan on Jan. 1 in the CFP Semifinal at the Rose Bowl.
