Alabama Freshman Cornerback Jaylen Mbakwe Enters Transfer Portal

The five-star recruit departs after one season, marking the third defensive back to leave Alabama this offseason.

Jaylen Mbakwe, a five-star recruit and top-15 overall prospect in the 2024 class, announced his decision to transfer after one season with Alabama.
Mbakwe played in 11 of Alabama's 12 regular-season games, recording 15 tackles, one tackle for loss, two pass break-ups, and an interception.
In a social media post, Mbakwe described his decision as a 'business decision' aimed at his personal and professional growth.
He joins two other Alabama defensive backs, Jahlil Hurley and DeVonta Smith, who have also entered the transfer portal this offseason.
The departures come after Alabama's 9-3 season under first-year head coach Kalen DeBoer, who replaced Nick Saban after his retirement.
