Coaches will use a short-term rotation at running back as the pre-Georgia bye gives Miller a window to finish his recovery.

Overview

  • Miller is out for the Aug. 30 opener at Florida State and is doubtful for games against Louisiana-Monroe on Sept. 6 and Wisconsin on Sept. 13.
  • He suffered a dislocated collarbone during an Aug. 16 scrimmage, and Kalen DeBoer now targets his return for the SEC opener.
  • Offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb says the backfield will be handled by committee in the interim, with Daniel Hill, Richard Young, Dre Washington and Kevin Riley in the mix.
  • DeBoer described the position group as a logjam and said the staff is looking for someone to separate by proving ball security, pass protection and command of the game plan.
  • Miller led Alabama with 668 rushing yards last season and is valued for tough-yardage and protection, reinforcing the need to bridge his absence effectively.
