Al Golden Set to Rejoin Cincinnati Bengals as Defensive Coordinator

Golden, Notre Dame's defensive coordinator for the past three seasons, will return to the Bengals after Lou Anarumo's departure.

Al Golden, 55, is finalizing a deal to become the Cincinnati Bengals' defensive coordinator, replacing Lou Anarumo, who was recently hired by the Indianapolis Colts.
Golden previously served as the Bengals' linebackers coach from 2020 to 2021, during which the team reached Super Bowl LVI and the AFC Championship Game.
At Notre Dame, Golden led a defense that ranked among the top in the nation, helping the team to a 14-2 record and a runner-up finish in the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship.
The Bengals' defense struggled in the 2024 season, ranking 25th in both points and yards allowed, prompting a shake-up in head coach Zac Taylor's staff.
Golden brings extensive coaching experience, including head coaching stints at Temple and Miami, as well as NFL roles with the Detroit Lions and Bengals.
