Al-Falah Investigation Intensifies: Police Set Up SIT as NAAC Labels False Accreditation an Oversight

An arrest warrant for fugitive doctor Muzaffar Ahmad Rather highlights the widening probe tied to the Red Fort car blast.

Overview

  • NIA took custody of doctors Muzammil Ganaie, Adeel Rather and Shaheena Saeed along with preacher Irfan Wagay, while Dr Umar Un Nabi was identified as the driver who died when the bomb-laden car killed at least 12 near Red Fort.
  • Faridabad Police formed a Special Investigation Team to examine how the alleged module operated from the campus and to track the flow of explosives sourced from Dhauj to Delhi.
  • Investigators recovered 360 kg of ammonium nitrate from a rented room near the university and report much larger caches totalling about 2,900 kg in the wider probe, with a grinder and other devices seized for forensic analysis.
  • The Enforcement Directorate arrested Al-Falah group chairman Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui over alleged laundering of roughly ₹415 crore in student fees, as medical students paying up to ₹90 lakh voiced uncertainty over their courses and future.
  • NAAC said Al-Falah removed misleading accreditation listings after calling them a website oversight, while the AIU revoked the university’s membership and the NMC struck four doctors from the medical register under UAPA-linked actions.
